Privacy Policy
Not3d is a note-taking app for live event professionals. It is built to be private by design: we do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information, and we do not track you. The notes you create stay on your device unless you choose to send them somewhere.
This policy explains how Not3d ("the app", "we", "us") handles information. Not3d is published by Sam Lisher. If you have any questions, contact us at sam@samlisher.co.uk.
Information we collect
None. Not3d has no user accounts and no analytics. We do not collect or receive any personal data, usage data, or device identifiers. The app's privacy manifest declares no data collection and no tracking.
Information you create, and where it goes
Everything you create in Not3d — notes, cues, timecodes, tags, drawings, and optional video snapshots — is stored locally on your device. It is sent elsewhere only when you choose to use one of the features below, and in every case it goes to a destination you control, never to us:
- iCloud backup (optional). If you back up or sync a show to iCloud, your data is stored in your own iCloud account and handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it.
- Collaboration (optional). When you host or join a session, Not3d connects directly to the other devices on your local network (peer-to-peer). Your notes and your chosen display name are shared with the devices in that session. This traffic does not pass through our servers — we operate no servers.
- Export & integrations (optional). You can export notes as PDF or CSV, and send notes to destinations you configure: an HTTP webhook URL, OSC output, Trello, or Airtable. Data sent to a third-party service is handled under that service's own privacy policy — for example Trello/Atlassian and Airtable. You provide your own credentials/endpoints, and we never receive that data.
- Show control & video (optional, local network). Features such as NDI video discovery, OSC/Art-Net timecode, and disguise (d3) control communicate only with equipment on your local network. No data leaves your network through these features.
Camera, microphone, and local network
Not3d may ask for these permissions, all of which are optional and used only on your device:
- Camera — only if you choose a camera as a video source for note snapshots. Images are stored with your notes on your device.
- Microphone — only to decode LTC (audio) timecode or to capture audio from a USB capture device. Audio is processed on-device and is not recorded or transmitted to us.
- Local Network — to discover NDI sources, exchange timecode (OSC/Art-Net), and collaborate with nearby devices.
The app's core note-taking works without granting any of these.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Not3d contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. We do not use the Advertising Identifier, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device (and, if you enabled it, in your own iCloud account), you are in control. You can delete individual notes or notebooks in the app at any time, and deleting the app removes its local data. iCloud data can be removed from your iCloud settings.
Children's privacy
Not3d is a professional productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Data stays on your device or travels over connections you initiate (local network peers, your iCloud account, or the integration endpoints you configure). Network requests to third-party services use standard encrypted HTTPS connections.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
